Insider Info & Pantone Colors for Fall 2013
Designers and stylists all over the world are busy preparing for this upcoming season. New styles are starting to trickle in to stores. First, stores usually display what is called test orders. These tests orders are trendy garments that are purchased by buyers and merchandisers, in small quantities, to determine the customers’ reactions and buying patterns before larger orders are placed with vendors.
The early sales numbers will determine the direction the stores will go in for the upcoming season. If a test order blows out of stores quickly in the early stages, then the buyer will place a large reorder with the vendor, in hopes that the customer will still show interest in the latest styles.
Color plays a big part in the customer’s decision. I have mentioned the Pantone color predictions in my blogs before. It’s not the end all be all, but it is a good detector of color direction. It’s a great way for people in the industry to communicate color. Pantone color palettes make it much easier to create prints, match other garments and communicate color for dying processes.
